Police Arrest Driver For Supplying Fuel, Food To Boko Haram Insurgents
The Police Command in Borno said on Sunday that it had arrested a driver, Malam Modu Mustapha, suspected to be purchasing fuel and food items for Boko Haram insurgents.
Mr Damian Chukwu, the Commissioner of Police in the state, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri that the suspect was arrested after a tip-off by members of the public.
“The Police have received information that one Modu Mustapha of Jumptilo village was a terrorists’ collaborator, who buys fuel and food for them, at Alagarno and other hideout.
“The Police descended on the suspect, who has confessed to the crime,’’ he said.
Chukwu alleged that the driver usually fetched firewood in the bush, from where he was suspected to have met the terrorists.
“He said that he had been buying things for the insurgent group.
“We recovered N10, 000 from the suspect, which the terrorists gave him to buy bicycle spare parts for them,” said the commissioner.
The commissioner said the suspect also named 15 other firewood vehicle drivers, who engaged in similar crime.
According to him, the Police are yet to establish the motive of the driver buying things for the insurgents.
“We have not been able to establish his reasons for buying things for them, whether he is under the influence of spell, coerced into doing it, or doing it willingly as their collaborator,” said Chukwu
He said that because of the nature of the alleged crime, it would be transferred to the military for further action.
Chukwu said that the Police also arrested three men who specialised in adulterating grind-pepper, mixing it with sawdust and flower waste and selling same to public as pepper.
“Those arrested included Bukar Masona, Babakura Umar and Ali Muhammad.
“The adulterated pepper they sell to the public is poisonous and unfit for human consumption,’’ he said.
The commissioner said that the suspects had confessed to the crime and would be handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), for further investigation.

Ekiti Workers Slam Labour Leaders Over Plans To Honour Fayose With An Award
An interest group in Ekiti State workforce, the Enlightened Workers Forum (EWF) has criticized labour leaders over an alleged plan to honour Governor Ayo Fayose with “the Comrade Governor Award” at the May Day celebration on Monday.
The group berated the leaders of the state councils of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) and other unions planning the award accusing them of
insensitivity to the plight of workers.
In a statement on Sunday signed by its Coordinator, Mike Bamidele, the EWF contended that Fayose does not deserve the award labour leaders are planning to confer on him because workers and pensioners are suffering under his administration.
The workers claimed that the deal for the award was sealed at a ‘secret’ meeting the representatives of unions allegedly held with the governor where it was agreed that N10 million would be committed into the project.
The statement read in part: “By the way, why thois award and why the Labour? Is it to appreciate him (Fayose) for punishing us unduly? Right now, the workers are being owed six months arrears of salary, local government workers eight months and pensioners seven months.
“Are we to thank him for making us celebrate the last Xmas without salary for the first time in the history of the state or for the Xmas bonus of only five per cent of basic while his predecessor paid 30 percent of same?
“Though we had listened to the governor’s cooked up stories on how his predecessor threw the state into imaginary debt but in the real sense of it, Ekiti had no excuse at all to owe salary if the man in charge had been honest and if the “cash and carry’ Labour had been alive to its responsibility.”
The state NLC Chairman Ade Adesanmi described the EWF as a “faceless group” that should not be dignified with any answer challenging members of the group to come into the open and cooperate with labour leaders to make lif better for workers.
He explained that “Comrade Governor” to be given to Fayose “is not an award but a decoration” to appreciate what he has done for workers. Adesanmi added: “It is not an award but a decoration that we supposed to have done last year but we suspended it when Ekiti lost six doctors in an auto accident in April last year.
“I want to say that this group of people cannot be hiding under a name and be spreading falsehood; we don’t know them, we don’t know their office and we don’t know their phone number.
“If they are really concerned about workers’ welfare, let us know them so that we can work together but it is not good for them to be hiding somewhere and be throwing stones. If there are things they feel we are not doing right let them come into the open and tell us.”

Why Increase In Workers’ Salaries Is Necessary – Dogara
The Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, on Sunday said that increasing workers’ salary had become necessary in view of the rising cost of living in the country.
In a statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Mr Turaki Hassan, to mark the 2017 Workers’ Day, Dogara said that the House was committed to passing a new minimum wage bill.
The speaker reiterated the resolve of the parliament to enact a new wage bill for Nigerian workers.
“I wish to congratulate the entire Nigerian workers as they join their counterparts the world over in commemorating the International Workers’ Day.
“While commending you for your commitment to the service and building of the nation, I wish to assure you that the National Assembly remains committed to the passage of the National Minimum Wage Bill when presented by the executive,” Dogara said.
The speaker further stressed that the eight House of Representatives in particular, was committed to initiating other laws and legislative interventions that would promote the welfare and well being of Nigerian workers.
Dogara, however, enjoined workers, especially civil servants to rededicate themselves to duty and support government’s laudable policies and programmes.
“As you mark this historic day, I wish to remind Nigerians of the sacrifices made by the working class in nation building.
“I urge you to commit yourselves to doing even more in supporting government’s activities that will better the lots of our citizens,” Dogara said.

Sule Lamido To Remain In Our Custody For Investigation – Police
Mr Kayode Aderanti, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 1, Kano, says the arrested former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, would remain in their custody for further investigation.
Aderanti, who, spoke through the Public Relations Officer, Zone 1, DSP Sambo Sokoto disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Kano on Sunday.
According to him, the former Governor ‘honourably’ presented himself before the Police after an invitation was sent to him to answer questions.
“The invitation was as a result of a complaint we received from the Jigawa State Government on April 27, following an inciting statements alleged to have been made on a local radio by Lamido.
“The Jigawa State Government alleged that the former Governor called on his supporters in the state to stop the conduct of the upcoming local council polls in the state by all means,” he said.
According to him, the statement made by Lamido was capable of breaching the Public peace.
He said it is a public offence which is contrary to section 114 of the Penal code of Nigeria.
He said as soon as the investigation was completed, Lamido would be charged to court for appropriate prosecution.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, he said,
“My ambition is to become a billionaire and I am consciously working towards that. That is why I titled my last EP, Billionaire Ambitions. I have my eyes set on being a music mogul so that I can empower other young artistes out there. Even now, I try to do that as I regularly give out cash on my social media platforms because I love helping people.”
Maintaining that he doesn’t feel threatened by top rappers, Olamide and Phyno, Yung6ix said,

Facebook Marriages Don’t Last – Pastor Adeboye
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christen Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, last Sunday advised Christian singles to desist from choosing life partners from the social media, adding that marriage contracted through such medium does not last.
Giving the advice during a special prayer/thanksgiving service for matured youths, singles, single parents and their family members at the RCCG National Headquarters, Throne of Grace Parish in Ebute-Meta, Lagos, Pastor Adeboye pointed out that choosing partners through social media platform often results in unstable marriages.
“If you are expecting a marriage that will last, let it be one that is arranged by God. Let me tell you clearly, if you get a wife through FaceBook, you will lose her through the YouTube. You can quote me. Any marriage that is conducted through the FaceBook is going to crash through the YouTube. No doubt about that.
‘Our forefathers have already said it and the translation is what I have already given you. In Yoruba they said: Iyawo taba fi ijo fe, iran loma wo lo.
‘Let God decide for you because when the Almighty God decides to give you your own partner, any obstruction in your way, He will destroy. He is the Lord of hosts. He has never lost a battle”.
In a sermon titled: “Joy Cometh”, the revered man of God urged singles to wait patiently on the Lord for His guidance and they must not be carried away by beauty as yardstick for their chose of a life partner.
According to him, they must get involved in the work of God, noting that true joy and peaceful home can only come from God.
Continuing he goes on to say more about relationships and the importance of being born again, stressing: “It is God Himself that says that it is not good for man to be alone and then He said I will make a help meet for him. He also said be fruitful and multiply and I cannot be fruitful and multiply if I am single and because I am a child of God, I cannot go and fornicate, sleeping around hence who made the commandment made an arrangement and the arrangement is going to be a wedding.
“Joy can be asked for and it is also a gift from God, He gives joy, wisdom and knowledge to those who are good in His sight. Joy is also one of the rewards of salvation”
“Through joy comes from God, devil can never gives you joy, he may gives you counterfeit. If you are expecting true joy, let it comes from the Lord. If you are expecting marriage that will last, let it be the one that will be arrange by God”.

Buhari Healthy Enough For A Second Term – Amaechi
Ill-health and his limited activities notwithstanding, Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari “is fit enough” to stand for reelection, the country’s transport minister has said.
Rotimi Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, one of the oil-rich states in the Niger Delta and currently of the two so-called super ministers in Buhari’s cabinet, believed the president’s infirmity was not serious enough to preclude him from putting in one more term.
“If you look at the president since he came to the country, you will see there is a huge improvement,” Amaechi, who was the director-general of Buhari’s campaign said on Channels Television’s Hard Copy. “He’s regaining his weight. This is a 74-year old man, he is no longer a 58-old man, he is not 50…he is not a young man.
Buhari left Nigeria on January 19 for London to “undergo routine medical check-ups” during a short holiday. He only returned on March 10 after an extended period of medical treatment. He also hinted at the possibility of him going back for more treatment.
But what Nigerians should be more worried about, Amaechi said, is his ability [or lack thereof] to provide good leadership and deliver on the campaign promises he made, which were just three, according to the former Rivers governor.
“He made three [campaign promises]. The rest are propagandas, social media propagandas,” he said.
When asked if he would support Buhari if he stands for re-election in 2019, Amaechi replied in affirmative. “I will advise that he should,” he said.
“The president is fit enough to govern and if he makes the decision to run again, if he does, I don’t think there is anything wrong in supporting him.”
In spite of Amaechi’s vote of confidence in Buhari’s health, there are still questions to be answered.
Shortly after his return from London on March, Buhari acknowledged he was terribly sick but did not disclose the true nature of his ailment.
“I couldn’t recall being so sick since I was a young man,” he said at a meeting with security chiefs and ministers. He also confessed to receiving “blood transfusions” and “going to the laboratories and so on and so forth”.
He has also been absent from the last couple of Federal Executive Council meetings usually held at the presidential villa, leaving Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to chair those meetings. Moreover, it was reported that he was also missing the Juma’at prayer at Aso Villa mosque last Friday.
But the presidency insisted that there was no reason for Nigerians to panic. It said Buhari scale down his activities at the Nigerian seat of power on doctors’ advice.
“As eager as he is to be up and about, the President’s doctors have advised on his taking things slowly, as he fully recovers from the long period of treatment in the United Kingdom some weeks ago,” Buhari’s media aide Garba Shehu said.
His absence at the last FEC meeting was a last minute decision, he said without stating what informed the decision.

First of all, women easily get upset if they know you’re still in contact with your ex and in truth, your ex shouldn’t really have a business in what you newly share with your new girlfriend, most especially the personal stuffs.
As such, never bring up anything personal about your new girlfriend. If you consider your ex a friend, it’s best you face the fact that your new girlfriend will never fully accept what you and the ex now have. Don’t fuel the jealousy with your remarks.
Talking About Your Past $exual Adventures
Your new girlfriend most likely doesn’t want to have any idea of the kind of $exual escapades you had with your ex. You should NEVER think of bringing it up. All your past $exual exploits should remain between you and your ex and should only be discussed between you and your ex, if there’s a need to tell about it all! Save yourself and your new girlfriend the stress of heating the things you did and didn’t do.
Don’t Ever Say “You wish things were different”
Saying this is disastrous and you have to be completely stupid to say anything remotely close to this. Saying something like this totally negates how important you consider your ex relationship to be. Moreover, it sends a message that you’re not satisfied with your present girlfriend and it is always a bad thing to downplay your present relationship.
Don’t Talk Too Much About The Fun Times
You should avoid talking too much about the good times you can you ex had. If your ex gets to meet your new girlfriend, you should be all about the the fun times you’re having with your new girlfriend and not how good the past is. No excessive bragging about the great fun you and your ex have had. When your new lady meets your ex girlfriend, you should spend more time bragging about how great your new lady is, not how great your ex is. Bragging too much about how good the past was can be perceived as not having good times with your present girlfriend.
Never Openly Compare Your Ex And Your New
Whether or not you like it, you will always have things you love about your ex. There may be certain things you like about your ex much more than the ones you like about your new girlfriend. There are always going to be things you like about an ex. You should however never compare your ex with your new girlfriend. Never Openly Compare the good and bad of your ex and present girlfriend, especially when they’re standing next to each other. Doing so will be unpalatable to both ladies and you will most likely piss both of them off. It’s not such a bad thing if the ex is angry but making your new girl mad, may create problems that you don’t want.

Rita Dominic Hopes God Will Soon Present The Right Man For Her
Multiple award-winning Nollywood actress, Rita Dominic, 41, is hopeful that someday, God will send the right man that would change her status from single to married. She spoke at length about dating and marriage in an interview with the newly launched lifestyle and fashion magazine, Schick.
Rita maintained that she could have been married a long time ago, but things didn’t work out and she is still keeping her options open. She said, “I believe that God is in charge of my life and will present the right man to me at the right time“.
When asked about how she coped with social pressure, the actress said, “I am a human being and I would be lying to say that it doesn’t (get to me) sometimes. More so because it’s something I sincerely want to do but the feeling passes when I remember that society will not live with the person. I will live with the man, so it is very important that I do it because I want to, not because society wants it for me.”
Rita Dominic also bared her mind on the popular saying that $ex, for women, gets better with age. She asserted that $ex at 40 for individuals differ. “If you ordinarily don’t enjoy it, age won’t make a difference. I find that when a woman embraces her $exuality, many Nigerians equate it to being Ashewo , as if we should act like $ex is not pleasurable,” she saidd.
The actress also opined that dating nowadays was not very easy for a celebrity, describing it as a nightmare, “especially in these days of social media where with one click you are all over the internet. “I do date when someone special comes around.
“I love being totally drawn to someone and doing all those loving things couples do, but I am also wary of liars and bullies,” she added.

Speaking with Sunday Scoop, the WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE HOST, revealed that he is tired of being in front of the cameras and would love to give others the opportunity to host.
“I’m a full broadcaster and everything I do revolves around entertainment. I don’t do anything else. However, I have a lot of new things that I’m working on at the moment. I like working behind the scenes and pushing my projects. I’m tired of being onscreen. I think it’s time to give opportunity to other people. I and my production company are churning out some radio programs and a TV show.”
On what he has learnt from the show:
“The underlying theme for me is that knowledge is power. And for everything you want to do, you have to work for it. Even to win money on the show, people have to sit down and answer 15 questions. It has also taught me how to be a proper professional because I treat every episode in a different way and I prepare for it painstakingly. Preparation and hard work are the basis for success.”
On sustainability as the presenter of WWTBAM:
“I believe that God is the major factor that has kept me on as the presenter of the show. Anybody can be removed at anytime, so I’m not flattered by the fact that I’ve been there for 13 years; it doesn’t mean that I’m the best broadcaster.”
Giving advice to other broadcasters, he said,
“There are different aspects of broadcasting; for TV, the person has to look good, exude confidence and speak wonderful English. And I don’t mean common English but one that would command the attention of people and ensure that they get your message. You also have to work hard and read a lot. It is helpful to watch other broadcasters that you admire and before long, their talents would rub off on you.”
On his most interesting interaction with a fan, he said,
“A white person once recognised me at a mall in Sweden and I consider that to be very memorable. There have also been a couple of ladies getting N@ughty but apart from that, there hasn’t really been anything exciting. I think it’s just a privilege that I’m on TV; anybody that is on TV would be popular. I also believe that it’s the show that is popular and not me.”

17 Children Rescued from Suspected Human Traffickers
A statement by the FRSC spokesman, Bisi Kazeem, on Saturday in Abuja said the vehicle with registration number LMU 76 XA did not stop when flagged down, but was arrested at a traffic light at Dutsinma junction in Kaduna.
Kazeem explained that the vehicle was initially impounded for overloading and broken windscreen, but the corps personnel on closer examination suspected the occuP@nts to be child traffickers with minors heading to an unknown destination.
“The patrol team had earlier set out to book the driver for committing traffic offences of overloading and broken windscreen; but on close inspection, the team leader noticed that the front windscreen of the vehicle had a crack and counted 17 minors and three adults totalling 20 persons instead of only nine persons occupying the vehicle, which raised her suspicions,” he said.
The corps stated that the vehicle was impounded and taken to the base for overloading, seat belt violation and windscreen violation.
On learning about the incident, Kazeem said the Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, directed the case to be reported to the Comptroller of Immigration Kaduna State, who immediately sent his personnel to impound the vehicle and its occuP@nts for further investigation.
The children and the suspects, he added, were subsequently taken to Kano office of NAPTIP for further investigation and necessary action.

UNILAG 100 Level Student Commits Suicide after Roomates Shamed Her Over Alleged Theft
The Employee Relations and Human Resources Management major had been accused of taking makeup kits and clothes that didn’t belong to her. Her roommates had then taken it up against her calling her all sorts of names to shame her. Some other residents of her hostel had reportedly joined in the shaming as she was led away by her mother after the issue had been resolved.
However, on getting home, she reportedly drank a bottle of popular insecticide, sniper to take her own life.
One Ajani Damilola, who is also a student of the university narated the story on her Facebook page.

Police Parade LG Boss, Others Over Assassination Attempt on Senator Dino Melaye (Photos)
The police have paraded the Administrator of Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Taofiq Isah; his police orderly, Sgt. James Ede, and four others in connection with the reported assassination attempt on Senator Dino Melaye at his country home in Ayetoro Gbede, Kogi State.
The suspects were alleged to have fired gunshots at the house on April 15,2017 in an attempt to kill the senator.
He explained that one ambulance Hyundai bus, five AK 47 rifles, one Berreta pistol, two locally made single barrel shot gun, 25 expended shells of 7.62 mm ammunition, 13 expended shells of 9mm ammunition and 12 expended shells gauge cartridge were recovered from the suspects.
The spokesman fingered the Ijumu council boss as the mastermind of the attack on Melaye, adding that he allegedly directed one Abdulmumuni, his personal assistant to recruit the gang members that carried out the attack.
