Enyimba's Ibrahim Mustapha prepare to make a mark in print

One of the many reasons attributed to the poor title defence of former Nigerian Professional Football League champions, Enyimba last term was their lack of cutting edge in front of goal.
Indeed, it was a ridiculous statistics to note that Enyimba's top scorer in the league last term scored just five goals and as a matter of fact, was a midfielder - Nzube Anaezemba - who has since jumped ship to Rivers United.
Former El-Kanemi Warriors striker Ibrahim Mustapha joined the Peoples Elephant before the start of this new league season and he has seemingly given the Enyimba attack some form of stability, having started all of their league games so far.
The Borno-born Mustapha spoke to www.npfl.ng on Sunday, shortly after his team's 2-0 win over Gombe United in which he scored his second goal in as many home games in Calabar.
"It is important for me to start scoring quickly at the start of my career here (at Enyimba). I am also happy that we won the matches especially after our loss in Jos on Wednesday. I believe more goals will come Insha Allah," said Mustapha who scored 10 league goals for El-Kanemi Warriors last season.
It is barely two months that Mustapha joined Enyimba for pre-season after completing his switch from Maiduguri but he has clearly seen a difference among the expectations of both teams.
"The pressure between Enyimba and El-Kanemi is different because Enyimba always aspire to be Champions.
"That is what motivated me to come here. I also want to be a champion and since El-Kanemi is my hometown club, I also thought I needed a new challenge," added the striker.
By the virtue of his two goals so far, Ibrahim Mustapha has equalled the highest number of goals scored by any Enyimba attacker in the league last term. He is not willing to relent though as his unique never-say-die spirit is capable of landing him among the league's top scorers at the end of the season.
"I always believe I must score in my games. So I always keep striving and until the referee ends the game, I still always believe I will score," he concluded.
