HARRISMITH – Three people including two minors died when a truck and a light vehicle burst into flames upon collision on the N3 in Harrismith.
The collision occurred on Friday morning around 7.45.
Paramedics said the truck driver managed to jump out of the truck while the occupants of the other car were trapped inside their vehicle.
“The driver of the truck is not injured," said Netcare 911 spokeswoman Athlenda Mathe.
“All occupants of the light vehicle were all declared dead on the scene."
"The cause of the accident is not yet known but police are at the scene,” added Mathe.
While the road was closed as paramedics cleared the scene, as from about 12:00 on Friday, the road has been re-opened.
